It also lets you use features that come with our products, like competing in Fortnite events. They give you three choices: using an authenticator app on your phone, sending a text message from your phone or using your email address. In this article, I’ll explain you how to turn each one on. You have already verified your email address on your Epic Games account, which is needed to turn on two-factor authentication.

Go to the Epic Games website and click “Sign in” in the top right corner.

Type in your email address and password, then click “Log in now.” In the top right corner, move your mouse over your account name and click on account. Click on security and password. Scroll down until you see “two-factor authentication.” You will be given three choices. First, I’ll explain you how to turn on the authenticator app. Remember that you can only have one type of two-factor authentication turned on at a time for your account. To do this, click on enable authenticator app.

A pop-up will show you the three simple steps you need to take to turn on the authenticator app.

To finish this process, you will need to install an authenticator app on your phone. In this case, you can use the Android app Google Authenticator. On IOS devices, the process will be a little different. Open the app and click “start.” Tap “Read a barcode.” Scan the QR code on your screen and tap “Add Account.”

Remember the phone’s code? For extra security, the code will be changed every so often. In the pop-up box, type the six-digit code and click OK. If you click “Activate,” you can make backup codes in case you lose access to your authenticator app. Click on Make Codes. Make sure to write these codes down somewhere safe, or you can click on “download codes” to save a text file with the codes on your computer to make sure the authenticator app is working right.

By hovering over your name in the top right corner and clicking “Sign Out,” you can sign out of your Epic Games account. To sign back in, click “Sign In” in the top right corner, enter your email address and password, and then click “Log In.” A six-digit code will be asked of you. Open your authenticator app, type in the code, and click “Continue” to move on.

You’ve set up two-factor authentication on your Epic Games account using the Authenticator app.

You can also use SMS authentication, if you don’t have access to the internet or your phone. To use this in the section on two-factor authentication, Click Enable SMS Authentication. Choose your country’s code and enter your phone number, then click Send code. Check your phone to see if you have the code. Enter the confirmation code in the pop-up window and click “Activate.” Click “Close” to make sure it works.

Open the launcher for Epic Games.

When asked, enter the six-digit code that was sent to your phone and click “Continue.” Your Epic Games account is now set up to use SMS authentication. The third choice we give you is to use email authentication. Click on the button that says “Enable email authentication.” Check your email for the pop-up message with your two-factor code. The code you got in your email, and then click “Continue.” A window will pop up to let you know that your account has been set up for email authentication.

Click “Done” to make sure that the email authentication works. Move your cursor over your name in the top right corner and click on Sign Out. Click on Sign In in the top right corner to get back into your account. Enter your email address, then your password, and click “Log in now.” You’ll get an email with a two-factor code. Check your email for the code, then type it into the confirmation window, click “Continue,” and you’re done. Your email two-factor authentication has been added to your Epic Games account.
