Is Rust Cross-Platform in 2022? Rust is a cross-platform survival game that can be played on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It lets PS4 gamers to communicate with those on the same platform as well as those on the Xbox One, which is a whole separate machine.

Cross-platform play between console and PC versions of the game is allowed, but the console players cannot connect to the PC version. But why Rust don’t support cross-platform between PCs and consoles? I’ll give you a few differences for better understanding.

The cross-platform differences between PCs and consoles

There are quite a few differences between the version available on steam and the versions available on Xbox and Playstation.

If you didn’t know, on PC Rust maps range in size, whereas from what I’ve seen so far, maps on console only come in one size, and this size is called 2K maps, whereas most maps on PC are double that size or even larger. Another difference between PC and console Rust is that there are no gun specific recoil patterns on console Rust due to these players having to use controllers, which pretty much prevents them from having recoil patterns. I mean, obviously they’ll still have recoil, but it’ll just be like straight down recoil and I like the normal pattern of the ak, which is like a backwards s-curve.

As traditional Rust never had a purpose, frame assist was used on controller only. Aim assist is used in many popular games such as Call of Duty, Fortnite, and a bunch of other games that all use amethyst on console. These games are different than traditional PC games such as CS:GO, Valorant and many other games such as Rust that use recoil patterns instead of the traditional straight down, pull down recoil.

Another change made to Rust for console is the map inventor interface. These changes were made to make life easier for controller players. It would be very difficult for them to navigate the traditional map on a controller. Keep in mind that the way these vendors work did not change; it was simply a cosmetic change to make it easier for console players.

You will not be able to buy skins and sell them later on console. I do not believe they will ever implement the idea that you can sell them later and make a profit, and you may even lose money. I don’t think you’ll ever be able to sell them. They’re just cosmetic. I don’t think they have a way of implementing the steam market on console.

How to Play Rust Cross-Platform?

There are no options. We have to switch around and enable or disable crossplay. If you go to the official website, at the top here, you can select between different servers. Then you have the option to go to Square on the bottom right and go to the filter. Once you bring this up, you can go down to platform support and you can go to cross play or PlayStation or Xbox specifically. So it will give you a list of all the cross play servers. It has like a little cross and this will indicate that it’s a cross-play server.

If you go to like a PlayStation specific server, you will see the playstation symbol next to the officials. There will be a cross-play game where there are xbox players and playstation players combined. There will not be pc players in any of these games. It’s only the consoles. So there will be no unfair advantages because of that. All you have to do is connect to it. There is no friends list under Rust but you can go ahead and save your favorite servers.
